Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself...

A lifetime ago I wrote this*:

* with plenty of help from other, more talented people!

I also wrote the 1986 and 1987 Gen Con Masters Tournaments.  That solidified my geek credit for life. I stepped out of the gaming world for a short break, which turned into twenty-five years as a teacher, school administrator, husband and father of twins.

These days I run a small foundation. If you are interested in education, you can see what we do here.

Now I help my dog, the famous (at least, he thinks so) Pacho, with this puzzle blog. Join us!  Subscribe, follow, comment  do puzzles-- whatever.

On to the next puzzle!

SOLUTION to I, 2

 (1)  Luciferian Love, i.e. Sympathy for the Devil, which begins with the lyric...

(2)    Plea | salami | twin| terra | deuce | mice | elf.

The title... is there a song called Luciferian Love? In other words...? Perhaps a song who's lyrics open with a line appropriate to a very early post on a new blog?

Welcome to my little corner of the internet.

Hi there.

My name is Dan. This is my dog, Nacho, who is often called Nacho-Pacho. (“Pacho” is pronounced to rhyme with Nacho.)

He's a handsome devil.

woof
Nacho founded a game company called Pacho Games, which has grown to have annual revenues of negative nine dollars and forty cents. Pacho Games is solely responsible for the quality of this blog.

On to the next puzzle!

SOLUTION to I, 1

(1)   “…in other words..” is a two-step puzzle, with a preliminary and a final solution, as signaled by the two sets of blanks below the puzzle text.

(2)  We might want to look for ‘other words’ for the original text words and phrases.
We will be guided by the number of letters in the first set of blank spaces (for example, we need a five-letter word for 'sea snail'. etc.)

(3)  Some are not too hard:

Denver height – mile (as in, the mile-high city)

Quincy, M.E., for example – coroner

           biblical you – thee

           yang’s counterpart – yin

So…

          _ _ _ _ _ | _ _ _ _   _ _ | mile | _ _ _ | _ _ _ | coroner |

          _ _ _ _ _ | thee | yin | _ _ _ _ | _ _.

(4)  coroner | _ _ _ _ _ | thee  suggests “corner of the.” So, ‘unrefined’ could be ‘rough.’

(5)  If you don’t know what to call sea snails and big deer you can always google them…

      That gets you...

           Whelk | _ _ _ _   _ _ | mile | _ _ _ | elk | coroner |

             rough | thee | yin | _ _ _ _ | _ _.

(6)  Whelk | _ _ _ _   suggests the title of the puzzle, "Welcome." (Always look at the title of the puzzle. It's another clue, and sometimes a big one!) And that puts you one or two easy guesses from the solution:

        Whelk | come to | mile | hit | elk | coroner |

         rough | thee | yin | turn | et.
